Helmut HIRSCHBERG (1936–2008)
Helmut Hirschberg was president of the “Österreichische Numismatische Gesellschaft” (Austrian numismatic society) until shortly before his death. He mainly collected tokens and media of exchange of consumer cooperatives in and outside Austria. The Department of Numismatics and Monetary History at the University of Vienna received an extensive collection of material on this subject from his estate. The collection comprises an index of photos and impressions in tinfoil, as well as a comprehensive collection of plaster casts of consumer cooperative tokens and other tokens.
